Three lovely days of reggae, ska, dub, Jamaican street food, rum, beer, colourful market, jamming, fun workshops, beautiful people, dancing and good vibes.
Featuring reggae legends, from London, UK – Channel One, owners of one of the most famous sound systems worldwide, a staple at Notting Hill carnival for the past 35 years, Mikey Dread & Ras Kayleb will treat us to an inspiring 3 hour sound system style set for Sunday afternoon’s yard party. Playing on Island Rockers sound system with a set starting with chilled out roots leading to uplifting dub and steppers.
Also out of London comes another legend – MC Brother Culture, the lyrical machine, he’s been shelling hits since the 80s with countless legendary collaborations with top reggae & dub producers out there. Pon di Corner will warm up the crowds for him on opening night, Friday, while Saturday make sure you’re ready for some hot stomping and skanking action with local giants The Rifffs as we indulge in a night of ska and reggae.
It is a celebration of Caribbean culture and together with awesome music we will have a specially dedicated rum bar by Havana Club, a Jamaican street food stall in collaboration with Zion’s kitchen, awesome stage light design by Late Interactive, a sweet little market and an activity packed Saturday afternoon with a jamming session by Music Playground, fun workshops, Mojito making lessons and more to be announced.
The first edition of One Drop Reggae Festival will be happening on the 4th, 5th and 6th of May 2018 at Zion, Marsascala. The festival opens its doors on Friday at 18:00 and runs till 1:00, while Saturday and Sunday from 13:00 till 1:00. We encourage everyone to attend early and enjoy the festival to its fullest.
The festival is starting out on a small scale with limited entry for every night to ensure everyone has enough space to shake that booty. We’re hoping to grow the festival year on year to something really big if JahJah wants.
The festival wouldn’t be possible if it wasn’t for the support of these awesome brands – our main sponsors Havana Club and also Corona, Quicklets, Late Interactive, Ziggi Rolling Papers & Zion Reggae Bar.
