Saxophonist and composer Carlo Muscat began his musical journey at a young age, developing a deep love for jazz. Early in his career, he made a name for himself through performances in his native Malta. Growing in reputation, he expanded his musical horizons by collaborating with international artists. In 2013, he made the move to Paris, immersing himself in the city’s vibrant music scene. There, Carlo absorbed diverse sounds and refined his craft by listening to and collaborating with musicians from various backgrounds. This pivotal period led to his debut album, ‘The Sound Catalogues’. Continuing his artistic evolution, he kept composing and refining his musical expressions, always on the lookout for new avenues of innovation.
Muscat has taken the stage across Europe in cities like Paris, London, Istanbul, Milan, Berlin, Kyiv, and Rotterdam. With six albums as a leader and appearances on five others as a sideman, his musical journey, in his own words, is an endless, expressive process thriving on the freedom of interpretation and an unapologetic embrace of improvisation.
Carlo’s latest album ‘Hymns’ made the list of Best Albums of 2023 in Downbeat Magazine’s January issue.
