In November 2011, the UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization) officially designated April 30 as International Jazz Day in order to highlight jazz and its diplomatic role of uniting people in all corners of the globe. It is chaired and led by UNESCO Director-General Audrey Azoulay and legendary jazz pianist and composer Herbie Hancock. The Institute is the lead nonprofit organization charged with planning, promoting and producing this annual celebration.
30th April 2019 will be Storeroom‘s first take on this celebration and will feature a concert showcasing tunes from renowned composers such as Woody Shaw, Herbie Hancock, Wayne Shorter, Stanley Turrentine, and more!
